11 things you can still be thankful for in 2020

This Thanksgiving might be a little different, but some things never change.

1. The Dollar Tree. Your one-stop location to shop everything Thanksgiving. Wine glasses? Check. DIY craft supplies? Check. Canned yams? Check. Candles? Check.

2. Holiday pop music from Pentatonix, Ariana Grande, John Legend, and all of your favorite talented artists.

3. Forever stamps. Mail letters to your loved ones this year and next year and the year after that...

4. All kinds of pies: the pumpkin one you bought at Walmart, the pecan pie your aunt “made from scratch”, and the apple pie your second cousin brought (oh wait never mind, that’s an extra pumpkin pie.)

5. Babies. If there’s not a cute little human at the table this year, expect one there next year. #CoronaBabyBoom

6. HVAC system. Warms you up after a long walk outside in the cold; cools you down after a heated family debate.

7. Black Friday the next day. It might be a little different this year, but sneaking out with Mom at 7am to start shopping is still the plan.

8. Your phone. Useful to take photos together, to FaceTime Grandma in Peru, and to scroll through Instagram when you don’t feel like talking to anybody about your personal life anymore.

9. Holiday movies. Classic ones like Elf, and all the new cheesy ones on Netflix (looking at you, Holidate).

10. Your family. Tell your mom and dad how much you appreciate them. Call your relatives if you aren’t able to see them this year. And don’t forget to steal an outfit from your sister’s closet so she knows how much you love her.

11. Last, but not least, you're not food at the Thanksgiving feast.

Happy Thanksgiving y’all.
