Why You Need to Get on Clubhouse ASAP

If you haven’t heard about the new Clubhouse app, it’s an audio-based platform where people host chats about virtually any topic you can think of. It’s basically like listening to live podcasts, with multiple speakers chiming in; you can’t listen to the talks afterwards, which encourages you to hop on when they’re actually happening. Keep in mind, at the time of writing, the app is only available for iPhones (sorry, Androids!)

Here is just a handful of examples of what you might find on Clubhouse:

• Morning confidence talks to start the day

• Conversations about the future of Bitcoin, NFTs, etc.

• Entrepreneurial, networking, and marketing tips & strategies

• Self-development, self-love, and empowerment talks

• Discussions with experts about your particular industry’s trends

• Late-night guitar lullabies to fall asleep

Whatever your interests are, you’ll find someone talking about them - and if you don’t, start your own chat room!

One of the best things about Clubhouse is that, unlike other social media platforms, there is no pressure to get likes/comments/shares because those simply don’t exist on the app. Instead of scrolling and “engaging” mindlessly (I’m looking at you, Instagram), Clubhouse is all about actively taking part in the conversations going on, either by listening in the room or being invited to talk as a speaker. The fact that users are located all over the world means that you can also find chat rooms in other languages (it’s the perfect chance to practice listening and speaking skills in Spanish, French, etc.)

If you like what you hear, you can easily follow as many people and groups as you’d like, and then turn on notifications so you know when they’re live. There’s no messaging on the app, so if you want to further connect and talk with anyone, you can reach out to them via Instagram or Twitter, if they provide that information on their bio.

Clubhouse is great for curious people, multitaskers, and anyone who wants to connect with others on a deeper level than most other social media platforms allow. Although apps like Facebook and Instagram may stay around for a while, Clubhouse is a refreshing and valuable opportunity to begin taking part of social media more intentionally throughout your week.
